About Amritmahal
The Amritmahal ('gift of nectar') is Karnataka's legendary war and draught breed, once kept by the Mysore royal family. Grey-white with upswept horns and a powerful build, supremely agile on rocky Deccan terrain. Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan used Amritmahal bullocks to transport artillery. Today conserved by the Karnataka Livestock Development Board.
